Deadline smoothie

Did you ever have one of those weeks when, despite all odds, you managed to accomplish more than you ever thought possible? It’s been one of those weeks. I’ve been working 12- and 16-hour days, but as part of that, I’ve been writing 2,000-3,000 words a day on Magnificent Devices, which is due on Wednesday.

Which, if you know the glacial pace at which I write, is nothing short of a miracle.

The only thing that’s different—aside from abnormal levels of pressure—is the antioxidant smoothie I’ve been making a couple of mornings a week. I don’t know if that’s the reason for the mad spike in wordcount. But hey, in case it is, I’m going to share.

Deadline Smoothie

In a blender, puree the following thoroughly:
1 cup milk
1 cup yogurt (I like the Greek honey kind)
One 6-oz package (5-6 cups) fresh baby spinach leaves. Yes, the whole thing. Go on, dump it in there.

Add:
1/2 cup blueberries (or as many as fit in your two cupped hands)
1/2 cup raspberries
1/4 canteloupe, cut in small chunks
1 banana

Puree well and pour into a tall glass (it makes two or three). Drink the whole thing over the course of the morning. It doesn’t keep. And you might not even need lunch.

Happy writing!
