During the real-life Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989, half my house fell over a cliff. We were without water for 9 months. All my wedding china was in a cabinet that went over on its face and smashed. But we rebuilt, as you do, and I always promised myself I’d write an earthquake story one day. 

Daisy, Freddie, May Lin, and Peony get that book. The 14-foot-deep crevasse that opened up in my backyard. The pavement writhing in S-curves like a snake. The aftershocks every 10 minutes, which went on for days and made nervous wrecks of us all. They may be in mortal danger from these and more human threats. I hope you’ll like the story.
