Cranberry sauce

Yes, you can buy a can of cranberry sauce for your Thanksgiving table. But it’s so easy to make I thought I’d share my recipe with you. Rumor has it this is the Marie Callender’s recipe, but that is wholly unsubstantiated.

2 packages (4 cups) fresh whole cranberries
2 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup brandy

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Wash the cranberries and place them in a 9×13″ baking dish. Sprinkle with the sugar. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove from oven and stir in brandy with a wooden spoon (not metal). There will be lots of liquid, but it will firm up to create the sauce. Allow to cool and serve. Keeps in a sealed container for up to a couple of weeks. Enjoy!

My mom always adds a little orange zest to hers. . Although I have to admit I like the jellied kind 🙂 At least on sandwitches!
